Francisco J. Amaro‐Gahete's research centers on exercise physiology and healthy aging, with a particular emphasis on maximal fat oxidation during exercise and how training shapes metabolic and physiological outcomes in sedentary middle-aged adults. His most-cited first-author work synthesizes methods for assessing fat oxidation, while the FIT-AGEING randomized controlled trials show that structured exercise increases S-Klotho plasma levels and improves sleep quality in previously inactive adults. Related work establishes reference values for soluble α-Klotho and examines how physical activity and fitness relate to sleep. Beyond these lead-author studies, he contributed to the ACTIBATE trial, including a Nature Communications report finding no brown adipose tissue activation after 24 weeks of supervised exercise in young sedentary adults, and to an interdisciplinary weight-loss and lifestyle intervention for obstructive sleep apnea severity. His portfolio also includes work on threshold-based artefact correction for heart rate variability quantification and on time-restricted eating and visceral adipose tissue. No software, datasets, or patents appear in the indexed record; the through-line is rigorous randomized exercise trials probing how training reshapes metabolism, endocrine markers, and sleep across the lifespan.
