Daniel A. Weintraub's indexed work centers on the neuropsychiatric dimensions of Parkinson's disease, particularly impulse control disorders and their association with dopamine agonist use, a link he helped establish as first author and revisited in later work on the clinical spectrum of these behaviors. His senior-author contributions include validation of the MoCA and MMSE for detecting MCI and dementia in Parkinson disease and a widely cited primer on Parkinson disease-associated cognitive impairment, reflecting a sustained focus on how cognitive and psychiatric symptoms shape diagnosis and disability. Beyond these, he contributed to consensus efforts such as the Movement Disorder Society Task Force guidelines for diagnosing mild cognitive impairment in Parkinson's disease and the diagnostic criteria for dementia with Lewy bodies, both as a collaborating author rather than lead. His work also extends to treatment evidence, including randomized trial evidence on pramipexole for depressive symptoms and reviews of nonmotor symptom treatments. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond his publications. Across these outputs, the throughline is a career spent mapping and measuring the nonmotor, cognitive, and psychiatric burden of Parkinson's disease.
