Christophe O. Benoist's indexed work centers on the molecular control of immune tolerance and its breakdown. Early first-author contributions mapped the sequence requirements of the SV40 early promoter and putative control regions of the ovalbumin gene, establishing a foundation in gene regulation that later shifted toward immunology. As senior author, his focus list includes β-cell death during progression to diabetes and how individual intestinal symbionts induce distinct RORγ+ regulatory T cell populations, alongside studies of AKT–mTOR control of Foxp3+ T cell differentiation and Aire's role in thymic self-tolerance. Beyond the focus list, he contributed to the Human Cell Atlas consortium and to work showing that gut-residing segmented filamentous bacteria drive autoimmune arthritis via Th17 cells, reflecting a sustained interest in how commensal microbes shape immune repertoires. Collaborations with Alexander Yu Rudensky and Dan R. Littman appear across this literature. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond publications. Taken together, the arc runs from promoter-level gene control to the cellular and microbial circuits governing tolerance and autoimmunity.
