Chris Chunting Mi's indexed work centers on power electronics for electric and hybrid vehicles, with a sustained focus on isolated bidirectional DC–DC converter control, wireless power transfer compensation networks, and battery state estimation. His most-cited lead-author contributions include work on dual-phase-shift control to eliminate reactive power in dual-active-bridge converters (over 1,100 citations) and a double-sided LCC compensation network with a tuning method for wireless charging (over 1,000 citations), alongside related compensation-topology studies. He has also advanced capacitive power transfer coupler and compensation designs for EV charging applications and extended Kalman filtering for lithium-ion state-of-charge estimation. Beyond the focus list, publicly indexed outputs include a review of wireless power transfer for electric vehicles and a design methodology for LLC resonant converters in EV battery chargers, extending the same converter-design thread. Also in this line are short-circuit fault detection in battery packs via correlation. His contributions span converter topology and control through to charging infrastructure and battery diagnostics, as reflected in collaborations with researchers such as Chunting Mi and Siqi Li.
