Carol A. Kruchko's indexed work centers on population-based surveillance of primary brain and other central nervous system tumors, most visibly through the CBTRUS Statistical Reports she has led or co-led since the early 2000s. Her senior-authored report covering tumors diagnosed in 2005–2009 remains a foundational reference for US incidence and survival estimates by histology, while her later first-authored work examines aligning CBTRUS histology groups with the 2016 WHO classification to keep registry categories clinically meaningful. A related strand addresses meningioma causes and risk factors, reflecting her sustained attention to tumor subtypes within these registries. Beyond the reports she directly led, Kruchko contributed as a middle author to successive CBTRUS Statistical Reports, including the 2014–2018 and 2012–2016 incidence and survival updates, which are among the most heavily cited references in neuro-oncology epidemiology. Her first-authored commentary on cancer collection efforts providing clinically relevant data on all primary brain and CNS tumors articulates the rationale behind that registry infrastructure. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond these publications, so her documented contribution is the CBTRUS reporting series itself—an evolving, standardized evidence base spanning two decades.
