C. Mark Eakin's indexed work centers on thermal stress and mass coral bleaching across the world's reefs. His early first-author study documented the 2005 Caribbean bleaching event and its resulting coral mortality, a paper now cited over 900 times, while later senior-author work traced warming trends and bleaching stress across reefs from 1985 to 2012. He also led a synthesis of the 2014–2017 global-scale bleaching event, and his senior-author contributions describe the CoralTemp satellite product suite used to monitor heat stress. Beyond these, Eakin contributed as a middle author to broader climate syntheses, including coral reef futures under rapid climate change and ocean acidification and spatial and temporal patterns of mass bleaching in the Anthropocene. His earlier work modeled calcium carbonate budgets before and after the 1982–1983 El Niño and reviewed coral δ18O and Δ14C proxy records. No software, datasets, grants, or patents are indexed beyond his publications. The through-line is a shift from local reef-scale carbonate and proxy studies toward global satellite-based bleaching monitoring.
