Bette L. Otto-Bliesner's indexed work centers on using Earth system models to reconstruct past climates and test them against geological proxies. Her highly cited first-author studies include simulations of Arctic warmth and ice-sheet retreat during the Last Interglaciation, which remains a benchmark for understanding polar amplification, and Last Glacial Maximum and Holocene climate in CCSM3, which helped establish the model's paleoclimate capability. As senior author, she also examined Pliocene and Eocene climates as analogs for near-future conditions, work that connects deep-time warmth to contemporary projections. Beyond these, her contributions include middle-author roles in major community efforts such as CESM2, the latest version of the Community Earth System Model, and PMIP2 coupled simulations of the Mid-Holocene and Last Glacial Maximum, which coordinated multi-model paleoclimate experiments. Collaborations with Daniel John Lunt and Axel Timmermann appear within this broader modeling network. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond her publications. Taken together, her work traces a consistent line: building and validating climate models against paleoclimate evidence to constrain future change.
