Andrew V. Anzalone's indexed work centers on search-and-replace genome editing that avoids double-strand breaks and donor DNA, the prime editing system he led as first author, which remains his most-cited contribution. He extended this line into programmable deletion, replacement, integration and inversion of large DNA sequences using twin prime editing, and his widely read review synthesized CRISPR–Cas nucleases, base editors, transposases and prime editors into a shared conceptual framework. Earlier first-author work on ligand-responsive synthetic RNA switches and stop-codon readthrough selection points to a sustained interest in RNA-level control of gene expression. Beyond those lead efforts, he contributed as a middle author to prime editing in rice and wheat and to engineered pegRNAs that improve prime editing efficiency, both of which helped generalize the approach across organisms and formats. Related consortium work includes PrimeDesign software for rapid design of prime editing guide RNAs, and collaborators such as Aditya Raguram and Britt Adamson appear within this broader prime-editing and screening network. No software, datasets, patents or grants are indexed beyond these publications. Taken together, the arc runs from synthetic RNA and fluorophore chemistry through RNA-switch engineering to prime editing and its extensions.
