Andrew C. Kruse's indexed work centers on the structural biology and pharmacology of G protein-coupled receptors, with a particular emphasis on muscarinic acetylcholine receptor activation and allosteric modulation. His first-author studies of the M3 and M2 muscarinic receptors helped establish how these receptors achieve subtype-selective signaling, and his widely cited review framed muscarinic receptors as targets for drug development. A parallel line of inquiry addresses the human σ1 receptor and the gene encoding the σ2 receptor, extending structural characterization into less well-understood receptor families. Beyond these, Kruse contributed as a middle author to landmark structures including the β2 adrenergic receptor–Gs protein complex and the µ-opioid receptor bound to a morphinan antagonist, both foundational for GPCR pharmacology. His senior-author work includes a yeast surface display platform for conformationally selective nanobodies and proximity-labeling approaches to track GPCR signaling, with collaborators such as Brian K. Kobilka and Aashish Manglik shaping this trajectory. No software, datasets, patents, or grants are indexed beyond his publications. Taken together, the record traces a consistent arc from receptor structure determination toward tools and therapeutic insight.
